Again, Chef Gonzo has been away for too long. Apologies. My brother got married and I went away to help out with our mother's broken ankle, so I wasn't cooking too much, then after I got back, I was making the normal and easy salads, rice and chicken; and then occasional blanched broccoli, beef and rice.
Those dishes are so easy and fresh it's a little ridiculous. The missus and I eat out rarely, and we do the super-tasty but "boring" regulars all the time. Chicken, rice, salad. Chicken, rice, broccoli. Beef, rice, green beans. Sometimes we do stir-fry, sometimes succotash, but always fresh.
Those things also don't lead to instructive pictures, but maybe I'm wrong about that. Maybe I'll add some of those at some point in the future. Another thing that puts a crimp on this blog is the fact that I broke my left femur, and am now laid upon the mend for the next couple of months. The missus has been taking great care of me, doing all the cooking, kinda like when I worked nights all that time and she was alone.
I did do some dishes the other day, and felt less useless, but my foot turns purple pretty fast while being upright. One of these days, soon, I'll get more involved. Like today, I'm planning on cooking the beets we got from our CSA. Also, I would have loved discussing kohlrabi, the Sputnik-looking vegetable that we also got from the CSA, but it may be too late.
I apologize again, but there will be more topics and recipes up here in the future.
Maybe I'll fill the time with anecdotes from the industry...
